Pause the Competitive Bidding Program during the COVID-19 PHE
Reach out to you member of Congress urging CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) to pause the Competitive Bidding Program. The Competitive Bidding program is scheduled to begin Jan. 1, 2021. DMEPOS providers are currently working at max capacity to assist patients in getting their needed home medical equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is critical to help preserve the infrastructure of suppliers of home medical equipment during this time of need.
Reps Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R—WA) and Dave Loebsack (D—IA) are spearheading a Congressional sign-on letter urging CMS to use its regulatory authority to pause the Competitive Bidding Program for one year or through the duration of the Public Health Emergency (whichever is longer). This is critical to help preserve the infrastructure of HME providers during the pandemic. Please see the sign on letter, attached, and reach out to your House legislators asking for them to co-sign the letter.
